Take that! Ralph Rose, co-president of Baldwin’s Chamber of Commerce, volunteered to be on the receiving end of the pie-toss at Saturday’s Baldwin-palooza. A collection of auction participants paid $440 to smack Rose in the kisser with a cream pie — money that will benefit Baldwin schools. Above, Courtney Gross did the honors, and Rose survived with a smile. The event raised $20,000.
Working in concert
Baldwinpalooza, the concert that assembled local talent for an all-day performance to benefit Baldwin schools last weekend, raised more than $20,000 — a figure that may increase as additional vendors turn in their percentages. Held on a beautiful late summer day, the event drew around 700 people to its program of music, games, food and other attractions. more

Richard Damm and Jenny Clavin, both parents with children in the Baldwin schools, are co-chairing an effort to raise more than $300,000 to benefit education in the district in 2013-14.
Fighting for funds
Baldwin4Children.org’s effort to raise money for cash-strapped district schools is taking numerous forms, among them jewelry sales, a fundraising cocktail party and, most ambitious of all, a concert featuring musicians with ties to Baldwin. more
