On Stage

The Wanderer
Singer-songwriter Dion’s life comes to the stage in reading of Charles Messina’s new play, “The Wanderer: The Story of Dion,” about the rock ‘n roll icon. It tells the story of Dion DiMucci, the Hall of Fame musician from the Bronx, who took on the Mob, the music business, and his own demons to become one of the legendary voices of the pre-British Invasion era. The play follows Dion’s rise and subsequent fall due to his personal difficulties, weaving his hit songs throughout, including “Runaround Sue,” “Abraham Martin and John,” and, of course, “The Wanderer.” Dion, lead singer of the Belmonts in the 1950s, overcame his demons to thrive as a successful solo artist, eventually earning a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
