Adele Slutsky was beloved homemaker, at 86

Adele Slutsky, of Baldwin and Boca Raton, Fla., died on March 10. The cause was heart failure. She was 86.

Born Sept. 23, 1928, Slutsky was a dedicated homemaker who loved to spend time with her family and to cook. “She was a master cook,” said her son Jay Slutsky, of Bellmore, an account executive with PrimeTime, a division of Richner Communications Inc., which publishes Herald Community Newspapers. “She liked to entertain. She was the matriarch, the glue of our family. She be greatly missed by all of us.”

Jay Slutsky said his mother loved to cook baked clams, brisket and split pea soup with dumplings, among many other dishes. “She cooked everything from soup to nuts,” he said.

Adele Slutsky is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward; three children, Jay and his wife, Joanie; Lorie; and Mitchell and his wife, Syndee; four grandchildren, Jordan and his wife, Emily; Jill Sanon and her husband, Ron; Amanda and Peri; two great-grandchildren, Emmy Sanon and Dylan Slutsky, and two sisters, Florence Kolodin and Gloria Amdur.
