Baldwin BOE to hold special meeting Tuesday

The Baldwin Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the district office to discuss the potential impact of the recently passed state budget on the district’s proposed 2014-15 budget.

When the State Legislature approved its own budget last week, included in it was a provision offering tax rebates to homeowners who live within school districts that propose budgets at or below the tax levy limit. The Baldwin Board of Education and administration have discussed putting forth a budget that exceeds its maximum allowable limit in recent months, but the state’s new legislation has prompted a special meeting to be held.

There will be no opportunity for public comment at the special meeting, but the board will hold its monthly regular meeting on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
