The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation recently made its selections for Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) and named the Baldwin School District to the list.

According to NAMM, designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education. Baldwin was one of 117 districts in the state to receive the distinction.

Deepak Marwah, the district’s supervisor of fine and performing arts, said he was excited when he found out the news. “I am fortunate to have an opportunity to see the remarkable work that takes places in our music classrooms throughout the district,” he said. “I am happy to know that this work is being nationally recognized.”

For Marwah, the distinction means that Baldwin students are receiving a high-level music education and their music teachers are holding them to a high standard. “It also shows that our district is dedicated to ensuring that students take part in an education that is balanced with the arts,” he said.

“It is clear to me that the hard work of our teachers, and their dedication to the students of Baldwin is the number one contributing factor to this great distinction,” Marwah added. “The students are fortunate to have a team of professionals who are truly dedicated to their musical growth.”
