That ‘Science Guy’
Bill Nye — aka “The Science Guy” — has hit the road to share his passion for all things science. Nye is on a mission — to foster a scientifically literate society, making science entertaining and accessible. He tackles numerous issues of scientific debate, though he is perhaps most notable for locking horns with creationists and global warming deniers. So whether you aim to rediscover your interest in science or get Nye’s take on the those hotly debated theories that have captured national attention, this show is guaranteed to inform and inspire.

In Concert

Hofstra Chorale
The Hofstra Chorale and Chamber Singers are known for performing an eclectic selection of vocal music. They continue in that direction at their fall concert at the majestic Cathedral of the Incarnation, with “Songs of Resilience.” The program includes a vibrant array of music on the theme of the triumph of hope in times of trial — from the resistance songs of South Africa to the folk traditions of South America, African American spirituals and work songs to colonial era shaker hymns, and much more. The centerpiece of the evening is the organ/harp/percussion version of Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms (featuring Matthew Koraus on organ, Margery Fitts on harp, and the young boy soprano Rainer DeLalio). This is perhaps Bernstein’s most energetic and dramatic work for choir,
Friday, Nov. 21, 7:30 p.m. $10, $8 seniors and students. Cathedral of the Incarnation, 50 Cathedral Ave., Garden City. (516) 463-5947.
