Brian Croce/Herald
Legislator Laura Curran , second from right and her colleagues in the County Legislature, including Norma Gonsalves, far left, and Kevan Abrahams, said that re-funding the program was the right move at a press conference last week in front of the property of East Rockaway resident Theresa Gaffney, second from left.

Mangano said he expects to recoup the money for the program from FEMA. “[Sandy] left an environmental problem and a health risk, and therefore [the program] should be entitled … to be funded,” he said. “We continue to work with FEMA towards that goal.”
Residents interested in the program can call (516) 535-5730 or email nassauclean@gmail.com.
