Bus and car collide

An MTA bus hit a car Sept. 4 at Merrick Road and Harrison Avenue, slightly injuring one person, authorities said.

After the 10:44 a.m. crash, firefighters had to cut a woman out of the car, which took about four minutes, said Fire Department First Deputy Mike Jazylo. During that time, he said, someone from the Fire Department stabilized the injured woman, and she was then taken by ambulance to South Nassau Communities Hospital.

A police spokesman said she sustained a facial laceration. A person who had been aboard the bus complained of some pain, but was not taken to the hospital, Jazylo said; no other injuries were reported.

Jazylo said that in addition to the ambulance, the department sent two fire engines and a truck to the scene.
