Local teen tosses bleach in counselor’s face

A Baldwin teenager, and resident at MercyFirst in Syosset, was arrested after throwing a cup of bleach in a counselor’s face, police said.

According to detectives, Liana Brown, 16, threw a cup of bleach into a 53-year-old female counselor’s face after the counselor reprimanded Brown for taking another student’s food at 4:45 p.m. on June 12. Brown went to the cafeteria kitchen and returned with a cup of bleach which she threw into the victim’s face, police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for chemical burns to her face and eyes and released.

Brown was charged with second-degree assault and was arraigned on June 13 in First District Court in Hempstead.
