Transportation referendum meeting on Feb. 19

A public meeting to discuss the proposed transportation referendum has been scheduled for Feb. 19, at 7 p.m., in the high school auditorium. The referendum itself will be held at BHS from noon to 9 p.m. on Feb. 26.

The school board and district administration will be on hand at the public meeting to offer information about the referendum. Board trustees say they believe their proposal to reduce busing in Baldwin — but keep it within state

limits — will save $1 million, which could be used for kindergarten, arts and music, athletics, extracurricular activities and more. They have also said that the busing cuts are a long-term solution that would save money year after year.

Those who have questions about the meeting, or the proposal, can call Edward Cullen, assistant superintendent for business, at (516) 377-9272. For meeting schedules or additional budget information, go to www.baldwinschools.org and click on “budget information.”
