Tutor Time kids display musical talents

It was a busy week at Tutor Time on Milburn Avenue earlier this month as the childcare and learning facility participated in The Week of the Young Child, an annual celebration to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families.

At Tutor Time, instructors had a different theme for each day that taught kids the importance of several issues, including embracing diversity and the importance of health and fitness.

The week culminated on March 12 when staff members volunteered their time to organize a free dance and theater workshop for children. Tutor Time teachers Kate Salvia, Jennifer Werfelman and Stashalee Nathan led the workshop as part of a community service project.

Cassandra Burkhardt, Tutor Time’s Baldwin director, said the kids had a fun time learning a song and dance routine and got a kick out of performing in front of their parents. “We are grateful for the families who came out to support this event and our hardworking staff,” Burkhardt said.

She added that events like The Week of the Young Child are important to be a part of for a variety of reasons. “Investing time in the little ones, although it’s exhausting sometimes, really does benefit everyone because they are our future,” she said.

“We’re investing in the future,” Burkhardt added.
