Bellmore native and co-founder of Seven13 Films Lee Kolinsky believes in the importance of mentoring children, especially in areas of the country that are mired in poverty or crime. This is seen in his first documentary, “PEI Kids: Generation Change,” for which Kolinsky partnered with the Trenton, NJ-based non-profit Prevention, Education Incorporated Kids, and followed several young adults striving to improve their community instead of turning their back on it. more
Mafiosi made their way to Merrick last year –– fictitious Mafiosi, that is. Now, they’re hitting the big screen in Bellmore. Portions of a script describing the inner workings of an Italian crime family, written by Kennedy High School graduate Lee Kolinsky, were brought to life in his hometown when parts of “Send No Flowers” were filmed in two locations in Merrick last fall. Now the film is being screened at the Long Island International Film Expo. more
