Bellmore Chamber hosts Halloween parade

Posted

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores welcomed a cast of characters to Bellmore Village on Saturday when scores of costumed families attended the organization’s annual Halloween parade.

Participants assembled on Pettit Avenue, near Bellmore Fire Department headquarters, at 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 25. The festivities included a parade through Bellmore’s downtown and a special trick-or-treating session.

The festivities began almost immediately, as folks checked out and snapped plenty of photos of one another’s Halloween ensembles. When the clock struck noon, the crowd headed east towards Bedford Avenue, parading through the business district while spooky music played from speakers on lampposts.

Business owners joined in the fun by taking part in a trick-or-treat program for the dozens of children who attended the event. Merchants displayed “Mr. Pumpkin” decorations on their windows to let the children know that they could come to their shops and receive sweet treats after the parade.
