Bellmore-Merrick seniors all smiles on prom night

Although there were no celebrities in town, flashbulbs went off in yards and streets across Bellmore and Merrick last Thursday. Parents and friends of seniors at Calhoun, Kennedy and Mepham high schools became the paparazzi at pre-prom gatherings around the community.

Senior prom night was June 20 for Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District students. Calhoun’s prom was held at the Sand Castle in Franklin Square this year. Kennedy seniors spent their big night at the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City. The soon-to-be Mepham graduates also danced the night away at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Beforehand, students gathered for traditional pre-prom celebrations at one another’s homes. The seniors snapped photos with their dates, classmates and family members while pinning boutonnieres to their suits or putting corsages on their wrists, all to complete their formal looks.
