Bellmore chef brings healthy cuisine to the home
(Page 3 of 3)
Donovan Berthoud/Herald
Chef Bart Dorfman makes dishes like red snapper “en papillote” over sautéed spinach and more.
Dorfman, who has lived in Bellmore with his wife and 9-year-old daughter, Rachel, for 14 years, said he hopes local families will take advantage of his services to ease the stresses often associated with cooking. Noting that some of his clients are families with two working parents who don’t have time to cook, Dorfman explained that he could provide healthy meals for households that would otherwise resort to fast-food in a pinch.

“Many times, I replace the mom or the grandma at home because I’m looking out for what they’re eating,” he said. “I think there is a tremendous opportunity for folks who are not in the position to sit at home and cook all day long. It gives them more time to spend with their family. This is more precious, and a lot of folks understand that.”

Bill Williams would agree that Dorfman could not only help families come together, but also others who hire him for a special service. He said the chef helped make his engagement dinner one that he and Mollie will never forget.

“My fiancée and I highly recommend chef Bart,” he said. “He was collaborative, creative and helped create a personalized menu that was exactly what I had envisioned. He makes an extra effort to ensure that the logistics are seamless, the food is perfect, and the occasion is special.”
