Children from throughout Bellmore-Merrick and across the Town of Hempstead had an “egg-citing” afternoon at Newbridge Road Park last Saturday.

Town officials and a KJOY radio station teamed up to host a spring-themed “Eggstravaganza” at the park in Bellmore on March 23. The festivities included children’s shows, bouncy rides, face-painting, a food tent, games and give-aways.

Town Supervisor Kate Murray said that officials looked forward to entertaining youngsters and their parents with a variety of family activities.

“Spring kicks off with a great day of family fun at the ‘Eggstravaganza’ in beautiful Newbridge Road Park ,” she said.

Children took part in a traditional egg hunt, which was divided into three age categories: 1 to 4, 5 to 8, and 9 and up.

A musical group called School of Rock and singer Darlene Graham provided the entertainment.

The “Eggstravaganza” also featured safety and educational programs, including car-seat checks, bicycle tips, pet adoptions, child identification and emergency notifications, and Internet protections. Cablevision conducted the interactive Internet safety program, which covered cyber-bullying, Internet predators and other Web dangers, town officials said.
