Gillian Leesang is a mother who enjoys dressing her children in designer clothing. As a Five Towns resident, she felt there was a need for a high-end children’s clothing store in the area. Owning a boutique was her lifetime dream. Hence, she opened her Hewlett store in August, naming it after her daughters, Sydne and Cloe.

Sydclo Children’s Boutique is bright, cheerful and cozy. Build-outs let you feel as if you’re browsing through a walk-in closet. Clothing is geared for boys and girls, from newborns to age eight, or sizes zero to ten. Styles are both casual and dressy. Children can sit at a table with crayons, or watch TV — a great convenience for Mom while she shops.

Brands carried at Sydclo can be found at upscale department stores like Saks, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. Many collections are quite unique. For example, Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney, both big names in adult fashion, feature smaller versions of their grownup clothing in their children’s lines — Little Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney Kids.

Sydclo also carries Lili Gaufrette, a brand known for in-chic fashions for babies and girls. Diesel Kids, and Joe Jeans for boys and girls, are among the other labels. Inventory will change with the seasons. Right now you can find plenty of stylish jackets, coats and sweaters. In addition to clothing, there are plush toys and accessories. 

“Sydclo Children’s Boutique has a warm, personalized feel to it,” said Leesang. “We get to know the names of our customers and their children.”

The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. Look for the colorful window displays framed by the yellow striped awning.
