Polls in New York State closed at 9 p.m, but it wasn't until just after 2 a.m. that the final results of ballots cast in voting machines in Nassau County were available.
Nassau incumbents held their seats against their challengers. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy saw a decisive victory against her two challengers, Fran Becker and Frank Scaturro. State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos held his seat. And newcomer Michaelle Solages, a Democrat, won her race against Sean Wright for the newly formed 22nd Assembly District.
But with tens of thousands of paper ballots that still need to be counted by hand, some races could see changes in the days and weeks to come.
