Take a musical journey to India in the guise of the extravagant Indian dance and music spectacular, “Mystic India: The World Tour,” courtesy of the Freeport Community Concert Association. The internationally-acclaimed Bollywood dance spectacular is based on the concept of ancient India’s transition into modern India.  The show features renowned musicians, dancers, breathtaking aerialists and acrobats, and opulent costumes. The ensemble of diverse, impeccably trained dancers combine authentic Indian and modern techniques bringing the streets of Mumbai and New York into harmony. Expect an explosion of colors and energy as you travel on a celebratory journey through Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat, and even through the progression of Bollywood films via a stunning visual display that fuses dance, theater, and special effects.

Musical Treasures
The American Chamber Ensemble returns to Hofstra University this weekend with its gala spring fundraiser, or music party, as the ensemble likes to call this concert. Hear Kodaly’s Duo, Brahms’ Sonata in D minor for violin and piano, Debussy’s L’isle Joyeuse, Mendelssohn’s Concert Pieces for 2 clarinets and piano, Herbert Deutsch’s Soliloquy for clarinet, and Bernstein’s Glitter and Be Gay. This special concert honors ACE Directors pianist Blanche Abram and clarinetist Naomi Drucker, who will perform, with surprise musical presentations for both. They are joined by pianist Marilyn Lehman, violinist Eriko Sato, cellist Chris Finckel, soprano Karen Lehman DiMartino, and baritone Andrew DiMartino. Stanley Drucker, the renowned retired New York Philharmonic principal clarinetist, is a special guest artist.
