Calhoun’s got talent

Posted

Sanford H. Calhoun students and faculty took the auditorium stage together on Dec. 18 to show the rest of the school community their talent for a cause.

The annual talent show for charity, which was sponsored by Students Against Destructive Decisions, featured acts by Calhoun students and teachers. The performances included singing, dancing and instrumental music.

Three student winners were named at the end of the evening in the auditorium, which was filled with parents, students, faculty and staff. Lucas Truisi took first place for his vocal performance, Cara Leggio came in second for her ballet act, and Jacob Derwin, a singer, placed third.

Faculty performances included dance acts featuring about 10 teachers. Bands like the Heartthrobs were also made up of Calhoun teachers. School officials said close to 30 members of the staff participated.

The event was also fundraiser to help support SADD’s annual health fair and the Tyler Seaman Scholarship Fund. School officials said $1,500 was raised for the causes at the talent show this year.
