Rolling Thunder track seeking volunteers

Rolling Thunder, a track program for special-needs children begun by recent Kennedy High School graduate Jamie Kanner, of Bellmore, is continuing throughout the summer and is seeking high school volunteers to help out.

The program “gives children with disabilities the opportunity to participate in track and field events,” Kanner said. “Athletes are paired with high school volunteers and create a special bond that will last a lifetime.”

The program is held on Sundays from 5-6 p.m. at Kennedy High, at 3900 Bellmore Ave., Bellmore. For more, email Kanner at Jamie.kanner.6@gmail.com or call her at (516) 650-9607. Kanner was a honors student and co-captain of the girls’ cross-country and track teams while at Kennedy. She will attend Hofstra University in the fall.
