Upon measuring, a preliminary design is laid out for your review. From that point, I like to design right in front of the client so that decisions are being made in real time, but this takes an adept ability to use the computer well, otherwise it will be like watching paint dry. Once the final design meeting have been concluded, the construction drawing process begins. This tedious procedure should include the notes, details and dimensions that the contractor will follow. The construction plans are then handed over to the prospective contractors, who will review them, estimate the cost and ask and answer questions. Permits are then applied for, which can take from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the workload of the building department. With permits in hand, you’re ready for construction.
