Swingtime Big Band
Share some swing with your sweetie when the always-entertaining Swingtime Big Band returns to the Madison Theatre with “In the Mood for Love.” Artistic Director Steve Shaiman and his acclaimed 20-piece jazz ensemble celebrate Valentine’s Day with a potpourri of classic love songs from the swing era and the Great American Songbook. Swingtime’s female vocalist Bobbie Ruth recreates the “gal vocal” stylings of such legendary singers as Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Eydie Gormé, Billie Holiday and Judy Garland, along with current stars like Jane Monheit. The band’s male vocalist, Jerry Costanzo, brings to life the sound of Big Band crooners such as Nat “King” Cole, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin and, of course, Frank Sinatra, with a look to modern crooners, among them Michael Buble.
Sunday, Feb. 14, 3 p.m. $30-$35. Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 323-4444 or www.madisontheatreny.org.
