A Freeport man and two teens were arrested and charged with a burglary in Merrick on March 1 and one in Bellmore on Feb. 17, Nassau County police said.

According to Crimes Against Property detectives, the trio drove to the T-Mobile Cellular store at 2131 Merrick Road, threw a brick through the glass window and entered the store. Once inside, they stole several cell phones and electronic equipment, ran to their car and sped off on Kenny Avenue.

Responding officers spotted the vehicle, a gray 2000 Mitsubishi Galant, on Sunrise Highway. The officers stopped the car when the license plates did not match the vehicle description. The driver, Charles Siebert, 22, of North Columbus Avenue in Freeport, intentionally crashed the car into a police cruiser, causing damage, police said. He then ran off and resisted arrest.

Meanwhile, Anthony Morris and Joseph Torres, both 16, stayed in the car. Officers found cell phones and electronic equipment scattered throughout the vehicle.

All three were arrested.

After an investigation, police said they determined that the three were responsible for another burglary at 2 a.m. on Feb. 17 at Kardesh Jewelry, at 2370 Merrick Road in Bellmore. According to police, the three threw a brick through a glass window in that case as well. Watches and jewelry were stolen, but recovered by officials.

Police are continuing their investigation. Morris and Torres were each charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, while Siebert was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and resisting arrest. They were to be arraigned after press time. Their attorney or attorneys could not be reached.
