Posted

The Mepham Pirates beat the Sewanhaka High School Indians with a score of 14-7 at their Homecoming game on Sept. 28, but excitement was not only felt on the field. As a culmination of spirit week at Mepham High School, the Pirate community hosted a festival that had something for everyone to enjoy leading up to the game.
Various clubs set up booths in the parking lot with activities like face painting, bubble making and slime making. Students from all walks of life displayed their school spirit, and the Bellmore-Merrick community came together as the football team stormed the field to take on Sewanhaka.
Parent volunteers worked concession stands offering a variety of treats, and the school’s band kept the crowd moving and grooving. At halftime the cheerleading and kickline squads got the crowd on their feet. Quarterback Sean White and Brooke Raheb were crowned homecoming king and queen, respectively.
