Molloy College was once again recognized as a top affordable school in the country, as it was ranked No. 3 on Money Magazine’s recent list of “50 Colleges That Add the Most Value.”

The independent Catholic college in Rockville Centre was founded in 1955, and serves roughly 4,900 undergraduate and graduate students. Molloy was No. 1 on the same list last year, and landed at No. 10 last month on a national list measuring Catholic colleges with the best value by College Values Online.

The most recent distinction by Money, a magazine published by Time Inc., hones in on schools that help students do far better than might be expected from their academic and economic backgrounds. The rankings are determined by focusing on 24 measures in the three categories of quality of education, affordability and outcomes. These comprise examining the schools’ six-year graduation rate, student-to-faculty ratio, cost to attend and graduates’ career earnings, among other factors.

The list is part of the publication’s larger “Best Colleges For Your Money” list, which ranked Molloy No. 96 out of 711 colleges nationwide, the highest of any Long Island school. It was deemed worthy of No. 84 last year.

“We are excited that, once again, Molloy has been named one of the best values in the nation,” Dr. Drew Bogner, Molloy’s president, said in a statement. “This recognition is an affirmation of our commitment to providing our students with the best possible value as we prepare them for exciting careers beyond Molloy.”
