Temple Emanu-El hosts annual outdoor Shabbat service

Temple Emanu-El of East Meadow hosted its annual Shabbat Under the Stars on Friday Aug. 8, an event aimed to highlight community spirit and religious unity.
A barbecue was held inside the synagogue beginning in the early evening, and the congregants then stepped onto the synagogue lawn for the outdoor service. Rabbi Daniel Bar-Nahum delivered the sermon, and Cantor Ellen Weinberg and David Berkowitz provided music during the service.
Though it wasn’t quite dark enough yet to see the stars, the outdoor setting provided a more spiritual and lively environment for the Shabbat service.
