The East Meadow High School Theatre Guild and Music Department recently entertained audiences with four performances of “Beauty and the Beast,” from April 23 to April 26, directed by band teacher Christopher Hale.

“Beauty and the Beast” tells the tale of a young prince who is cast under a spell, transforming him into a hideous beast. Falling in love is the only way to break this curse. Belle is a beautiful and headstrong young woman who takes the place of her imprisoned father in the Beast’s enchanted castle. During her time with the Beast, she teaches him to be gentle and kind. The two fall in love, breaking the spell and transforming the Beast back into a prince.

More than 40 students took part in the performances. The student orchestra, conducted by Joel Levy, provided harmonious musical accompaniment.

“The kids did a tremendous job,” sad Hale. “We couldn’t be more proud of them.”
