Advocating for peace at Bowling Green

Posted

In honor of International Day of Peace on Sept. 21, Bowling Green Elementary School students created pinwheels as a unified symbol to show their support and hope for a better world.

Fifth-grade teachers were inspired by Jeremy Gilley’s “Peace One Day” movement. Students watched Gilley’s video, “One Day Journey,” and discussed anti-bullying, and ways to practice peace in their school. Following the discussion, students decorated pinwheels expressing their feelings and thoughts.

Students then placed the pinwheels around their school to solidify their efforts to celebrate world peace.
