A Deer Park man was arrested after police say he drove under the influence of alcohol on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow on April 6, with two passengers in the car — one of them a 5-year-old girl.

Nassau County police say James Calabrese, 38, was driving a black 2004 Suzuki westbound at 4:45 a.m. when officers observed him fail to signal and to maintain the traffic lane.

Upon pulling him over, police said there was also a woman in the passenger’s seat, and a young girl in the rear passenger seat. Officers allege that three packets of Suboxone were also found in the car.

Calabrese is charged with driving while ability impaired, aggravated driving intoxicated (with child under 15 years), three counts of first-degree aggravated unlicensed, operation without interlock court order, two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation and three other traffic violations.

Calabrese was scheduled to be arraigned on April 7 in First District Court in Hempstead.
