East Meadow man in critical condition after hit-and-run
Three injured in Suffolk accident

An East Meadow man is in critical condition after a car he was driving was struck by a tractor trailer on Walt Whitman Road in Melville, at 2:25 a.m. on Friday, according to Suffolk County Police.

Police say Andrew Shikora, 24, passenger Julia Moore, 21, and another unnamed female passenger, both from Florida, were driving northbound in a 2002 black Saturn, when the tractor trailer, traveling westbound on the Long Island Expressway North Service Road, struck his car. The tractor trailer, with possible front end damage, fled the scene.

Shikora and the two females were transported to the Nassau University Medical Center. Shikora is in the intensive care unit in critical condition, according to NUMC spokeswoman Shelley Lotenberg. The female passengers are also "seriously injured," according to Suffolk police.

Suffolk Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
