East Meadow students return to school
Ron Manfredi/Herald
First grader Gina McCardell stepped off the bus with the help of monitor Susan Thomas.

The first day of school is always a special one, as students reunite with their classmates and prepare for another year. It also marked the first ever day of school for hundreds of kindergarteners.

The East Meadow School District’s two high schools, two middle schools and five elementary schools all welcomed students back last Wednesday, and each school’s front lawn was filled with excited backpack-wearing students who were ready for the new school year to begin.

Bowling Green Elementary School enjoyed a successful first day back, and the Herald was there to catch the action.
