In the top of the fourth, Shapiro halted another Lady Generals threat when, with the bases loaded and two outs, she got Katie Fitzsimmons, who had the game-winning hit in game two, on a pop-out to Cutuli in shallow left.

“I don’t care for the long break between this game and the Long Island championship,” said Fritz, “but it beats going 300 days between games like we had to wait after last year.”
