Rosenking has steered not only veterans, but volunteers, to Honor Flight. His youngest daughter, Taylor, 16, has accompanied him to MacArthur Airport to see the veterans off, and his oldest daughter, Jacqueline, 18, served as a guardian during the most recent trip. His wife of 20 years, Carol, has also volunteered, and so have a large group of his coworkers — he is a project manager for Chase.

As of now, Rosenking said, Honor Flight Long Island has one more scheduled flight in May, but he hopes there are more to come. It’s just a matter of getting the word out. “We have a bunch of eager people who are willing to take them,” he said, “and the [veterans] are guaranteed a phenomenal day.”

Kushner shared a letter that he sent to Honor Flight shortly after his trip. In it, he wrote, “From the second I arrived at the airport, to the moment we returned in the evening, the treatment, care, attention given to the veterans by the guardians defies description. Suffice to say, it was a day that will live in my memory for the rest of my life.”
