Visiting the East Meadow Public Library website just got a whole lot easier on the eyes.

With black text on a white background, colorful menu bars and a picture slideshow on the main page, assistant library director Rocco Cassano said the new look has received positive feedback from patrons and employees.

The new layout, which went live on Jan. 24, was precipitated to upgrade the system employees use to update content for their respective departments. In the process, Cassano said, officials decided to revamp the look, too, and hired an independent company, Spider Web Developing, for the redesign.

New features include a photo slideshow on the main page highlighting recently library events, and a more eye-catching alert notice to relay important announcements to the public — delayed openings or closures.

Additionally, the website now accommodates visitors who view it on their tablets or Smartphones. “Depending on the device, it will adjust the look and feel of the site to the device’s screen size,” Cassano said.

To coincide with the new site, Cassano said a library phone app will also be revealed in the “next month.”

The site’s other features include a Books & Reading tab, which informs patrons of new books that have recently come to the library, and much more.
