“Don has already worked with a number of our partners and supporters, including Hofstra, RXR and Jones Lang LaSalle,” the statement continued. “These relationships, in addition to his deep understanding of Long Island, will strengthen our efforts to create a quality sports and entertainment destination that serves as a catalyst for the revitalization of Nassau County and becomes a rich and vibrant destination for all Long Island residents.”

Last week, a spokesman for Renaissance Downtowns said the company had been working “behind the scenes,” talking with research and development, creative and high-tech industries to lure them to the area. The spokesman added that the company had “a lot of” interest from the robotics industry.

Madison Square Garden is committing $250 million towards Coliseum renovation in its proposal, including a 150,000 square-foot entertainment district called “Long Island Live!” which would house live entertainment, an MSG Zone, restaurants, bars and retail.

Their estimated construction time frame is one year, while renovating the building’s interior and exterior and condensing seating to 14,500.

The company would bring at least one of its professional sports teams — the New York Liberty of the WNBA, the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, or the Erie Bayhawks of the NBA Development League, as well as Rangers and Knicks practices, boxing and tennis.
