Saltwater Stories
The region’s maritime legacy comes alive at Long Island Children’s Museum during a weekend that explores Long Island’s seafaring culture through hands-on activities. Visitors will get the chance to meet the baymen, boat builders, clammers and maritime artists who are carrying on the traditions that shaped Long Island’s development. Learn about the positive changes to Long Island’s waterways since Hurricane Sandy from those who observe this area up close. Celebrate nautical traditions with Lena and her Happy Clam Band’s “The Happy Clam Show,” Saturday and Sunday, at 2 p.m. Lena brings songs from her award-winning CD “Happy as Clams,” as well as new nautical songs.

The walk covers three miles over somewhat rough terrain.
