An East Meadow man was arrested after police say he stole and cashed 20 payroll checks from his company's ledger, totaling tens of thousands of dollars, over the course of 11 months.

Nassau County police say that Chris Kilkenny, 30, between Feb. 1 2014 and Jan. 3, 2015, as an employee of EZ Bath, Inc., stole the payroll checks, and deposited them into his personal business account. He also allegedly diverted online funds into his personal account. The fraud, police say, cost the company an excess of $40,000.

Kilkenny is represented by Legal Aid Society, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. LAS does not comment on cases as a matter of policy.

Kilkenny was placed into custody without incident on March 3 inside his home. He is charged with 19 counts of possession of a forged instrument, and third-degree grand larceny, all of which are felonies.

He is scheduled to be in court on March 6 in Part 9 Court in Mineola.
