After a Bay Shore woman was arrested for petit larceny on Feb. 6, police say she assaulted ambulance technicians who were escorting her to a hospital.

Nassau County police report that officers arrested Kimberly Trinidad earlier in the day for a theft she committed at a Walmart in Massapequa. On the way to detention, Trinidad began "to feel ill."

A Nassau County ambulance responded to their location on Hempstead Turnpike, and after Trinidad was transferred into the vehicle, she allegedly "became combative," kicking an ambulance medical technician in the face.

Assisting officers secured Trinidad, police said, and she was transported to the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow to be treated for an unknown medical condition.

The AMT was also treated for a minor facial injury, police said.

Trinidad is charged with second-degree assault and petit larceny. She was scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 7.
