Selling bagels for breast cancer awareness
Local shop goes pink for a cause
By David Weingrad
Susan Grieco/Herald
Bagel Biz owners Jay and Linda Gold, of Merrick, organized the fundraiser at their East Meadow shop.

Bagel Biz, located on Front Street in East Meadow, held a fundraiser last Saturday to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

The bagel shop is owned by Jay Gold. He and his wife, Linda, who live in Merrick, lined the shop with pink balloons and draped each table with pink decorations.

Several dozen customers made their way in and out throughout the day, and all proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Hewlett House 1 in 9 Breast Cancer Coalition, according to Linda.

The band “Psyclone” played a live show throughout the afternoon, entertaining the crowd with classic tunes such as The Beatles’ “Twist and Shout,” and Johnny Rivers’ “Secret Agent Man.”
