Fair St. Francis blesses the animals

While it didn’t exactly rain cats and dogs last weekend as many feared in light of Hurricane Joaquin’s potential arrival, there were some sightings of pets amid the blustery weather at St. Francis Polish Catholic National Church.
That’s because the house of worship hosted a Blessing of the Animals event at its 1752 Harton Avenue church in East Meadow on Saturday afternoon. Several congregants stopped by with their dogs, and one brought his pet rabbit.
The ceremony was hosted by The Rev. Andrew Koterba, who personally approached each animal to deliver a special blessing.
