Library's fifth anime festival

One of the community’s most highly anticipated events, EMcon, welcomed thousands of residents from across the county into the East Meadow Public Library last weekend.

The festival is a celebration of anime culture. Residents dressed up as their favorite animated character, and took part in contests and workshops involving drawing, video games, costumes, and much more.

Also featured was a Skype Q&A session with anime actor Vic Mignogna. Makeup artist Sue Lee and pop singer Hitomi Himekawa were also part of the celebration.

The festival was started by the library’s art director, Kelly Gordon, five years ago, because he felt there was a need for anime in the community. Since then, the event has blossomed into of the biggest celebrations of the year.
