It was a beautiful, crisp autumn day last Saturday as W.T. Clarke High School students, past and present, and hundreds of other residents of East Meadow and Salisbury celebrated the school’s annual Homecoming.

Residents of the small but tight-knit community packed Coach Jack Boyle Memorial Stadium to watch the Rams football squad take on visiting Island Trees High School. With Clarke leading 21-0 entering halftime, the festivities began.

Clarke’s marching band, with the help of the color guard, entertained the large audience. Then the class floats made their rounds around the perimeter of the field, each creatively decorated with a Disney movie theme: The Incredibles, Up, Monsters, Inc. and Toy Story.

Then came the Homecoming Court, escorted inside a convertible, led by the Homecoming King and Queen, Nick Normile and Holly Romeo.

The excitement continued as the Rams retook the field for the second half, and won by a decisive margin, 34-8. Throughout the day, younger students lined the surrounding fields, tossing a football around while watching the festivities.

Before the game, Clarke honored 1965 alum Peter White, inducting him into the school’s Hall of Achievement.
