‘Zumbathon’ aids Sandy-ravaged schools
Donovan Berthoud/Herald
More than 100 students gathered in the East Meadow High School gym for a night of exercise and fun, all for a good cause.

East Meadow High School students recently gathered inside the school gymnasium for a night of health and fitness — all for a good cause.

The Zumbathon Sandy Relief Benefit was held on Thursday, March 7, in an effort to raise money for two schools that remain damaged after Hurricane Sandy.

More than 100 students and faculty gathered in the gym for a night full of Zumba — a dance fitness program — and all of the funds will be distributed to Long Beach High School and Freeport High School.

The event was organized by physical education teacher Lisa Guerriero. Students helped design customized pink tee shirts for the occasion.
