A third nor'easter hits Nassau County

Posted

For the third time in two weeks, a nor'easter is pounding Long Island with snow, ice and high winds.

The National Weather Service says Nassau County can expect three to six inches of snow, with potentially higher totals in the southeastern part of the county. Suffolk could see four to eight inches, with higher totals out east.

Officials are urging caution on the roads. Much of the snow might not stick to the blacktop because temperatures will be hovering just above the freezing mark. Still, roads will be icy and potentially treacherous.

A handful of Nassau school districts have closed, along with many of the major colleges.
