State Assemblyman Brian Curran recently presented a check for a $2,500 grant he helped secure for the Malverne Little League. The league is using the grant money to purchase bats, balls, helmets and other equipment for its teams.
“I’m very happy to be able to provide funding to help our little leaguers keep playing the game they love,” Curran said. “I believe funding for youth programs in athletics, the arts, sciences and other areas is of the utmost importance. These types of programs are where our children find their true passion and begin to develop it into something that will make our community a better place to live as they get older.”
Curran added that programs such as Malverne Little League provides an alternative to drugs and alcohol, which has increased among children in recent years. “I believe the state should put an emphasis on funding youth programming and I will continue to advocate for it in Albany,” he said.
