After hours and hours of practice, the high school marching bands of the East Meadow School District performed through the streets of Manhattan during the New York City Columbus Day Parade on Oct. 8.

The East Meadow High School marching band earned first place, judged on their talent and dedication, while the W.T. Clarke High School marching band was awarded fourth place.

“Both of our bands represented our school district with pride and excellence on display for thousands of people on Fifth Avenue,” said Director of Music and Art Christopher Hale. “Many parents lined the street to support our students and to also show their school pride.”

In addition to participation in the New York City event, the two groups also marched at the Huntington Columbus Day parade on Oct. 7.
