Packed in the lower-level all-purpose room, readers from across East Meadow and Salisbury clutched copies of books they discovered through the East Meadow Public Library’s Adult Summer Reading Club on Aug. 15.

The club celebrated yet another successful year as they listened to famed author Yona Zeldis McDonough read pages of her most recent novel, “A Wedding in Great Neck.”

“I’ve always been inspired by East Meadow, Great Neck and other parts of Long Island,” McDonough told the crowd. “Even though I’m a Brooklyn girl, I still absorb Long Island’s beauty.”

Some readers discussed McDonough’s novel, while others inquired more information about her award-winning children’s books. Throughout the summer, readers discussed mysteries, romance and fiction titles, with some special appearances from authors. Last month, the club hosted newcomer Fiona Davis and discussed her debut fiction novel, “The Dollhouse.”

The club wrapped up its summer reading list with a raffle drawing, snacks and smiles.
