East Meadow student expresses language through art

Daniel Jacob, a seventh-grade student from Woodland Middle School in East Meadow, recently won second place in the Long Island Language Teachers’ annual poster contest.

Jacob competed against more than 90 students from 19 schools in Nassau and Suffolk counties in the annual contest, which provides a creative outlet for students to express an appreciation of worldwide languages and cultures through art.

This year’s contest theme was “Languages: Windows to the World” as it coincided with National Foreign Language Week, held March 5 through 11.
