EMFD Stations 3 and 4 extinguish Newbridge Road car fire

Firefighters from East Meadow's Engine 3, Engine 4, and Ladder 2, were alerted to a car fire on May 5 at 9:16 p.m. in the vicinity of Walmart on Hempstead Tpke (Actual location: Newbridge Road, just south of Old Westbury Road).

In quick succession, Chief of Department Eric Becker radioed his response, soon followed by assistant chiefs Paul Kosiba and Peter Cheswick.

Minutes later, Engine 614, Engine 613 and Ladder 619 arrived on the scene of a vehicle heavily involved in fire.


Within 10 minutes, all visible fire was knocked down. Firefighters remained on the scene for another 20 minutes soaking melted debris and hot spots. The vehicle was a total loss. There were no injuries.
